R Street Parking

City custom and neighborly courtesy suggest we avoid parking on Ridgeside streets. Cars parked on the streets obstruct vision and detract from the beauty of our neighborhood. Parked cars along our narrow streets often are a traffic hazard.

Our neighborhood park is located between Ridgeside and Hilldale, and includes tennis courts and a playground.

R Pool and Park Committee

RIDGESIDE DOLPHINS SWIM TEAM

The Ridgeside Dolphins swim team competes locally in the Chattanooga Area Swim League. CASL sponsors competitive swimming events for Chattanooga and surrounding area pools and organizations. The goal of the program is to stimulate an interest in competitive swimming and to provide a means through which youth may learn leadership, good sportsmanship and values of physical fitness.

Watch for information distributed each Spring to register for the Ridgeside Dolphins, or contact Leslie Clarke at 698-1805.

RCOMMUNITY CLUB

All Shepherd Hills and Crescent Park residents are welcome.

Meetings are held on the first Friday of February, May, October, and December.  A Featured Speaker is always included.

Notices will be distributed for each meeting.

New officers are selected in May and take office June 1st.

Dues for 2008-2009 are $15.00.

Dues pay for community items such as printing Ridgeside directory; supplies for the picnic and other socials; bags, sand, and candles for the Christmas lighting.

RANNUAL CHRISTMAS LIGHTING (Luminaires)

Richard Van Delft and Robert Self.......................... Enjoyourday@aol.com/624-5978

The traditional luminaries are usually placed the Monday and Tuesday before Christmas.

White paper bags distributed to you by your street chairman are placed approximately 15 feet apart, down both sides of the streets between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM on these two nights

Sand is provided by the Community Club to serve as an anchor to keep candles in place within the sacks and to keep the sacks from blowing over. Sand is usually placed at the pool parking area for residents to pick up.

Inventive folks use bricks with holes as candleholders or votive candles set down in tuna cans filled with sand. Whatever works for you is great!

If your street frontage requires more than 12 candles, the club will provide extras. Notify your chairman when your bags are received.

We appreciate all residents? cooperation in carrying on this tradition. If you are unable to participate because of ill health or out-of-town plans, notify your chairman at the time the bags are distributed so arrangements can be made for someone to light and tend your candles.

In case of rain or snow at 2:30 the day of the lighting, the lighting will not be carried out that evening.

Maintenance will pick up all bags and candles the Wednesday after the lighting, unless you have picked them up to save.

On nights of lighting, no cars should be parked on the streets at all.

Please note the open houses will be held on Monday night only.
